"Come out of her My people" -- Jesus Christ
BEWARE OF THESE CULTS
| "For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." -- 2nd Corinthians 11:4
What is a dangerous cult? The most dangerous are those who claim to be Christian, but preaches a deadly error. They always come preaching one of the following things:
#1 Another Jesus [How? They usually deny that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, begotten before all creation. To know the true Biblical and Historical Jesus visit our Godhead section.
#2. They will have another Spirit. [Instead of the Holy Spirit, they will have a spirit that does not lead one into holiness, truth and love; and fails to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ as the Divine Savior.]
#3. They will preach another Gospel. [They will usually deny an essential part of the Gospel. It could range from denying the Divine Sonship of Christ, to denying his death for our sins, to denying his bodily resurrection. They could also preach that a person can be saved without faith, or without repentance. Or they can preach another gospel by denying that Jesus saves his people from the power of sin].
#4. They will preach atleast one demonic doctrine [click here for a list].
HERE ARE SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF CULTS
Antagonism. Intolerant of other beliefs. Extremely hostile to mainstream Christianity.
Isolationism. Closed mindedness ‘we alone are right’. We are the remnant
Propagandism. With the aim to claim ‘we alone are right’ – win converts by discrediting others.
Perfectionism. The feeling of superiority to all others. Sometimes includes the doctrine that one must be ‘sinless’ to be glorified and inherit heaven. A perverted sense regarding sin.
An extra-source of authority. – The bible is not their lone authority; but they draw from their literature and leaders
Justification by grace alone is questioned. The Gospel is flavoured with the doctrine of the sect.
Exclusive community. They are particularly God’s chosen. The church/world is ignorant without their message.
Eschatology governed. Special dates or events after the Apostles. So the cult thinks it’s called into existence by God and is teaching truth neglected by the ordinary churches.
Distinctive terminology. Double meaning of words and terms, has it own gobbledegook.
Exalted Figure. Cults usually harbor an exalted leader, who is deemed greater than a mere pastor; as in a prophet, apostle, or Vicar of Christ whose words are seen as an authority.
We have devoted attention to two specific churches which fit the above characteristics of a dangerous cult. But this does not mean that they are the only ones that we recognize. The Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, The Moonies, and many others also fit the description; but instead of doing specific studies on these groups, we will just offer these general studies so that you can identify these for yourself.
